I just found your site and I hope it will be a regular visitor. Not quite sure where my question, then you can ask him for the first time and take it from there. I have a feeling it's a common problem, but my research didn't get anything.
I wonder if you could give me some help with my current problem of yoga. I have a pretty rewarding home practice every morning at 4 am, which is also my favorite time of day.
My problem stems from my belief that yoga is all about meditation, because it's about stretching as hard as I try that I can't even my mind and in harmony with the universe every morning.
I think there should be a technique to train the mind to be even more. I know its human nature to think, but when you're trying to tune into and be still. He chatters away like a monkey. Certainly someone out there has a technique to quieten it a little or to teach him to become progressively more quiet.
You don't have some ideas for me? Maybe a website or a forum where people are discussing the issue. Anything to help me become calm and listen during my morning dance.
Thank you
Rob

Hello Rob
It's great to know that you have a well established practice of yoga. It won't be very difficult to get you started meditation as probably have reached perfection in asanas and breath control. Before achieving the stillness of the mind, you need to practise meditation and become a neutral observer of his thoughts. Brought the necessary information for you as reproduced below.
Starting with meditation. Start with the most simple process and then gradually move on. Initial Practice can help you focus your mind and reaching the stillness of the mind. Your progress will depend on your own efforts, self-study and guidance of a teacher. Even minimum Yoga meditation will help you better on your yoga practice and get relaxation and concentration. Do not set the goals, let go of the ego. Dissolve the ego is the main problem. You give your control for Supreme consciousness and you get unlimited support to proceed.
It is advisable to practice daily. Frequency of meditation is more important than calendar. Simplicity, but follow religiously.
Preparation.
Mind control for meditation practice. Let go of the ego. Don't think of meditation as a target that you want to achieve. Treat your meditation practice as renunciation Supreme consciousness and meditation approach with a spirit of gratitude. Thanks to God that he gave him and ask for divine grace to help in your meditation. Try to leave all your worries behind when you sit for meditation. Cultivate the habit of living in the present moment. Don't think much of the past or present.
Duration of meditation. There is no time limit set for meditation. You can set a time of ten, fifteen or twenty minutes of meditation. A simple ten or fifteen minutes breathing meditation can help you reduce stress levels, improve your self-awareness and provide great inner peace. You should be able to keep your pose of meditation session comfortably during the period of meditation. It is useless to sit for meditation, feel any pain in pose session.
Time for meditation. Do meditation in the same place and time, once or twice per day you have to assign high priority to practice daily meditation. The most importance that you give to meditation, more effective will be. Regular practice is the key to further progress. Best option is to save 15 minutes at the end of yoga
meditation practice. Else, do yoga stretching exercises to warm the body and take a few deep breaths. Make no workout after meditation.
Mantra. Only one guru spiritually evolved can give a mantra for meditation and its applicability. You can choose your own mantra or you can achieve considerable concentration, choosing "Aum" as its mantra.
Objective of meditation. You can point to achieve quietness in their seats pose, practice breathing consciousness and then focus the mind for meditation.
Place for meditation. Create a comfortable space in your home for meditation. Preferably should be silent and not other disturbances.
Simplified sequence of meditation. This involves gradually focus your consciousness sequentially on your body, your breath and your mind.
7. sit in padmasana sukhasana or, keeping your back and neck straight. Your weight should be balanced normal to the ground. Stillness meditation also depend on its ability to sit in your meditation posture for 15 minutes, it will be easy for you as you are already doing yoga. May take a few sessions before becoming comfortable with your pose session.
8. close your eyes.
9. Relax the body. Explore the body as if you're really curious about it. Make it with your eyes closed, using its internal attention. Mostly this involves a cognitive sense of touch, as you "feel" your body. Go through all parts: head, arms, trunk and legs.
10. There is no point fighting in meditation, we are trying to achieve relaxation and concentration, and it may not be possible in the first few sessions. Don't set goals, enjoy its meditation practice. This way, there is no self-pity or anger if it is unsuccessful in some sessions.
Awareness of breathing. Remember your breath. Make breathing relaxed, insist with any type of breath. Imagine that you're getting prana with each inhaltion and release toxins from your body in each exhalation. Eliminate the jerkiness or irregular breathing, respiration during inhalation and exhalation should be smooth.
12. repeat Aum five to ten times.
13. focus the mind in the space between the eyebrows, the ajna chakra.
Witness the stream of thoughts. Keep your mind focused, let the thoughts flow through your mind without interruption while you become a neutral observer. Keep a watch on all your thoughts. This way you're not working against the mind by trying to keep it yet. Gradually, you will find that improves their concentration and gradually reduces the mind chatter.
This is the essence of meditation and can be reached with determination and regular practice.
The core of your being remains unchanged, thoughts come and go. After awhile, they'll stop bothering him.
When you finish meditation, take a minute or more to exit it gradually.
Hope this helps.
Daljit
