Here are some generalised precautions before starting the pranayama.
1. If you have any chronic medical condition, seek the advice of his teacher of yoga and doctor before starting the pranayama.
2. Pranayama should be practised only after a gained control over the body by mastering the asanas. Practice of Pranayama generates energy prana in the body and practice of yoga asana removes nadis locks which carries the prana energy throughout the body.
3. Always Breathe through your nose, unless specifically requested to do so.
4. There should be no voltage during the practice of pranayama. Lungs are delicate organs; Make sure that your breath is not forced beyond the limits.
5. Do not make loud sounds during breathing. Keep breathing rhythm and constant.
6. Pranayama should not be carried out immediately after meals. You can make pranayama at least three hours after meals. Remember that a heavy meal will take much longer to get digested. For example, if you make pranayama night eating a healthy lunch that gets digested by the time you start the pranayama.
12. Newbies should not hold my breath. When you feel comfortable with the basics of pranayama, learn how to hold your breath under the guidance of a teacher specialist after mastering the basics of Yoga breathing.
8. If you feel discomfort or tiredness, stop doing pranayama, lay in the savasana while performing normal breathing. See your yoga teacher before beginning with pranayama again.
9. Do not practice pranayama if you are very tired, relax for 10-15 minutes before doing pranayama savasana.
10. If you do yoga asanas and pranayama yoga asanas, pranayama practice before. After practicing asanas, relax in savasana before doing pranayama. Make no strenuous exercise after pranayama.
11. Pranayama should not be practiced in a hurry.
12. Do pranayama outdoors or in a well ventilated room.
13. Pranayama should not be practiced when the lungs are congested.
Kapalbhati, bhastrika pranayama is prohibited for persons suffering from heart disease, hypertension or hernia. For kapalabhati, exhalation must be smooth for beginners, do not use excessive force.
Shitkari pranayama is forbidden for people with low blood pressure. Not practicing this pranayama in winters.
Not Suryabhedi in Chandrabhedi summers and winters in.
Agnisar Pranayama should not be done by people with high blood pressure, hernia and also not after any stomach surgery.
